Today marks the first day of matches in group F, so a huge welcome Brown Sauce and the crew to the party. I’ve always been a little suspicious of the names of some condiments, Brown sauce being one of them, I mean we call apple sauce that because it contains apples, Mint sauce contains Mint, Horseradish contains Horseradish etc. But, Brown sauce, I get that it’s brown, but are the ingredients that suspect that we dare not mention their names? I have to say though, I love the brown stuff and have defiantly downed a few pints of it in my lifetime.

Match of the day really has to be Caramelised Onion Chutney Vs English Mustard, two of the most popular condiments in the country but from polar opposites of the taste spectrum. Caramelised Onion is a smash hit on a cheese board, useful for pimping up mundane sandwiches and for giving a sweet note to a rich gravy. Mustard on the other hand is a power house of spice, slap too much on your Steak and you know your eyes are going to water-up. Both of these are ideal for Pork Pies may I add. But who wins, you can only pick one, which one will it be?

Anyway, I must dash, I’ve got to go play knock-down-ginger with my buddies from the bridge club.

Peace,
Alex D’Spoon
