Fab Euro 2016 Snack Ideas
Whether you’re an avid football fan or you don’t know your offside from your penalty shootout, it’s pretty hard to avoid the tournament currently gripping Europe. If it’s not on the television it’s being talked about in the newspapers, so you may as well get behind it and enjoy the occasion. Whether you’re watching the match through choice or coercion, we’ve put together our top footy snacks to make 90 minutes of the beautiful game more exciting, and definitely more delicious.
Cheese and Pickle Pork Pies
Our cheese and pickle pork pies have always been a top seller – there’s something about the flavour combination that makes your mouth water just thinking about it. Coming in packs of two they’re perfect to share, and we love them with a bag of salt and vinegar crisps and some caramelised onion chutney.
One of the easiest to make sharing snacks, nachos can be as exciting as you want to make them. A big bag of plain nachos, some heated refried beans, guacamole, salsa and sour cream – this is the classic nacho recipe. We think they’re worth spicing up however with some Yorkshire-made chilli jam, and a huge Yorkshire cheese like this Dale End Cheddar. Your mates will be begging you to tell them how you made your nachos so delicious!
A British Burrito
Stay with us on this – for a snack to beat all snacks, how about this “British Burrito” from a pub in Halifax? Featuring roast beef wrapped in a Yorkshire pudding, we think it would be amazing fun to make, and perfect cut up into slices as a buffet centrepiece. Anyone want to give it a go?
Beer is the traditional accompaniment to a football game, but we also love a decent cup of tea. If you’re drinking the proper stuff, why not treat yourself to some homemade Yorkshire parkin too? « View all
