If you’re thinking summer is over and festival season is finished, you couldn’t be more wrong. Some of the very best festivals hit Yorkshire in September, so unpack that tent, hunt down the best port-a-loos, and get right back in to the festival vibe. Here are our top picks for Yorkshire Festivals worth checking out this September.
Running over the weekend 10th-11th September, Redemption is a festival with charity – not big business – in mind. Hosted in Wakefield it’s raising funds for Barnsley and Wakefield Hospices. Good stuff. Even better, the line-up is looking great with names such as Bad Touch, Fahran, The Burning Crows, Sertraline, Captain Horizon, Hell’s Addiction, A Joker’s Rage, Daylight Robbery, Suborbital Lobotomy, Sinnergod, Bigfoot, Fury, SKAM#, A Thousand Enemies, Cenacle and The Prog Doctors, you can’t go wrong. This one isn’t an opportunity for camping, no slumming here, and tickets are really very affordable, so no excuses not to show up.
The Old Saw Mill Garden Party
Ssssh, this one’s a Yorkshire secret. There are still some tickets left for this awesome weekend of music and frivolity taking place in a secret Yorkshire location from Friday 16th-Sunday 18th September. You’re not going to want to miss this one, so if you haven’t got your tickets yet, get moving and do so. The line-up here is too vast to list, but trust us, it’s going to be great. So make a weekend of it and go party in a field. Not strictly an adults-only event, but really this is one for the grown-ups.
At Burton Hall, Skirlaugh, East Riding, Cornucopia is back for 2016 from 23rd-25th September. Cornucopia is a family-friendly festival which ticks every box. Everyone is going to be beaming here with not just music but all kinds of activities from circus performers, light shows, numerous acts, theatre, arts and crafts and more. With top acts including The Electric Swing Circus and Project Jam Sandwich it looks set to be a brilliant line up.
Running for one day only, on Saturday 24th September, this is a big festival in a nutshell. The line-up is looking pretty impressive: Arcane Roots, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Broken Teeth!, Astroid Boys, Dead Harts, Blood Youth, Bad Sign, Counting Days, Elegies, Fourth Gate, The Temple, and Mathletics – there’s something for everyone here. But it gets better. On top of the music, Festivile is welcoming dozens of independent traders, so if you’re looking for something with a difference then this is the place to be.
So, September has some great Yorkshire offerings for everyone on the festival scene. Don’t forget to take everything you need, from plenty of water to wellies, and if you want the perfect packable snack or lunch then you won’t go wrong with a sturdy but delicious pack of Vale of Mowbray pork pies. We have it on good authority that our snack pork pies are just perfect for a festival picnic. Enjoy September and all our local festivals.
